As you know, celebrity attorney Michael Avenatti was arrested Wednesday night after having been accused of domestic violence. Fox News’ Bret Baier was among those noticing some irony in Avenatti reminding everybody that a presumption of innocence is how things are done in the American legal system, but this evening Avenatti fired back:
Contrary to @foxnews and others, I have always advocated for due process including with Judge Kavanaugh (we demanded a full and thorough investigation repeatedly). Any claim to the contrary is bogus. Many of these “pundits” don’t even know what legal due process is.

We’ll have to wait and see how it all plays out, but in the meantime, people offered some opinions on the matter:
Take a lie detector test…..

Apparently you don’t understand the term ‘credible’

No, you did not demand due process for Kavanaugh: you presumed his guilt and you demanded that his nomination be summarily withdrawn. pic.twitter.com/vwuAygKg6s

That's interesting.
Because during a CNN tape in September — one week *before* Julie Swetnick — you said Trump should "pull the nomination" and "move to the next nominee," citing a lie detector test you acknowledged is "not admissible in a court of law."https://t.co/3fMCQBQw2m

Kavanaugh wasn't arrested for a felony, released on 50K bail and served with an order of protection from the female he beat up
I'm sure there is a thorough investigation under way right now on your felony charges https://t.co/URofptqmpX— Big Ed (@Falconeddie1) November 16, 2018

Maybe you weren't saying it loud enough. I think most conservatives still believe due process applies to you too. pic.twitter.com/eVCGavhcYn

So it kind of depends on what your definition of “due process” is on any given day.
