Hurricane Florence is moving west towards an expected Friday or Saturday landfall along the Carolina coast, and the Washington Post editorial board made the storm political with this take on who’s “complicit” with the hurricane:
Opinion: Another hurricane is about to batter our coast. Trump is complicit. https://t.co/T8X2D10Hgv
— Washington Post (@washingtonpost) September 12, 2018
Everything’s political now, even hurricanes:
President Trump issued several warnings on his Twitter feed Monday, counseling those in Florence’s projected path to prepare and listen to local officials. That was good advice.
Yet when it comes to extreme weather, Mr. Trump is complicit. He plays down humans’ role in increasing the risks, and he continues to dismantle efforts to address those risks. It is hard to attribute any single weather event to climate change. But there is no reasonable doubt that humans are priming the Earth’s systems to produce disasters.
Democracy Dies in Darkness, as does journalistic credibility. And that’s from the Post’s editorial board, not just one opinion contributor.
I didn’t know the president was a magician who could conjure hurricanes up… Did you?
Natural disasters, as you know, are natural disasters. This doesn’t help quell fears and evacuation preparation here in the Mid-Atlantic. Politicizing storms is stupid. You’re not helping… https://t.co/eP4VRzNgCe

And the press can’t figure out why nobody trusts them. It really is a damn mystery…

Trump must have borrowed the magic weather machine from Dick Cheney.
WaPo is a joke.

Reasonable Person: I feel like media bias is reaching critical mass, everything written these days just feels so slanted….
Washington Post: Trump is responsible for weather and everything bad because he tweets mean stuff, here's why.

This deserves to become a meme. https://t.co/UO0VDcY4Wl

Just so that I understand…
DJT is responsible for hurricanes even tho they are a natural occurrence.
Obama is responsible for the bull economy even tho it started immediately after he left office.

That’s what we’re supposed to believe, apparently.
South Carolinians who are evacuating and preparing for this hurricane don’t appreciate this. People could love their livelihoods and lives. Don’t bring politics into it https://t.co/otmUVNHd5R

Narrator: They brought politics into it anyway.
As Hurricane Florence approaches, American politics is put on pause https://t.co/xWzhkNHjt0

WaPo just published an op-ed blaming Trump for the hurricane, so call me skeptical. https://t.co/GevAZY6AkA
