This morning we told you that CNN was investigating how an anti-Trump tweet ended up on @AndersonCooper’s account. The tweet, posted in response to Trump, called the president a “tool” and a “pathetic loser.”
The sleuths at CNN say they might have solved the mystery, for those who choose to believe it:
In regards to a tweet from @andersoncooper’s account early this morning that called Trump a “pathetic loser” – CNN is saying it was definitely NOT sent by Cooper, and that his assistant accidentally left his phone out unlocked at the gym ? pic.twitter.com/POmmHbndtR

It was some guy at Cooper’s assistant’s gym’s fault? You might not be surprised to know that there were some who were skeptical of that explanation:
"Hey, look at this phone I just found. I think I'll use it to reply to a Trump tweet!" https://t.co/ny08IG9JMU

The assistant says “apple” but this sounds like a “banana” https://t.co/B0g8NZwT9p

Anyone who understands the pitfalls of some social media applications that might be used for group admin of an account is going to at least suspect that CNN is playing dumb to protect Cooper's assistant. https://t.co/l8VH5Zdmo0

Not believable.

It seems pretty clear that the assistant probably meant to tweet from his account, but accidentally tweeted from Anderson's account. Simple mistake that is far more believable than "stranger randomly tweeting from my unlocked phone." https://t.co/o4mOucEglh

Hey, you never know, but since it’s CNN we’re not quite sure what to believe.
