Former presidential candidate Evan McMullin weighed in on last night’s U.S. missile strikes on an airbase in Syria this way:
I support stopping Assad's atrocities, but it's unnerving that Trump changed his position on striking Syria 180 degrees in only 24 hours.
— Evan McMullin (@EvanMcMullin) April 7, 2017
McMullin struck a chord with some:
Trump's actions in Syria must be viewed in context of his close relationship with Putin. There is an *agenda*. We just don't know yet. https://t.co/HCYiiNpEG8

I agree – I'm not against these actions, but it paints a picture of an incredibly unsteady hand at the wheel of foreign policy. Dangerous. https://t.co/sJC2CoFMl1

This cannot be overstated. As usual, @Evan_McMullin hits the security/foreign-policy nail right on the head. https://t.co/oROSCUaDsH

and launched a missile strike less than 24 hours later. I don't think giving in to impulse is an effective way to run foreign policy. https://t.co/0WrKKvy0mI

Others were, well, let’s say “baffled” by McMullin’s comment:
Since you are so horribly unnerved, I guess it's a good thing you're not the man in charge. https://t.co/plLsf8HtGW

Yeah, he should have continued Obama's policy of "do nothing." Idiot. Why'd I ever vote for you? https://t.co/0sbsvgfrSM

You know you are a hater when you skewer the object of your venom for pivoting to the right thing too quickly. https://t.co/wwqrzOOH21

Because deliberate use of sarin gas on women and children requires a response beyond crawfishing over a previously drawn #FauxRedLine. https://t.co/59wtOcjFJO
