As we told you Monday night, privately shot video surfaced of CNN host Chris Cuomo reacting quite unfavorably after somebody referred to him as “Fredo”:
If you call CNN’s Chris Cuomo ‘Fredo’ he will ruin you and throw you down the stairs https://t.co/AfuEekTheg
— Twitchy Team (@TwitchyTeam) August 13, 2019
The video elicited a response from Donald Trump Jr.:
I assume @cnn not available for comment. Imagine their coverage of this if they were a real news organization? https://t.co/uH2biAkKUZ
— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) August 13, 2019
But CNN personnel might have Cuomo’s back on this one:
CNN spokesman says they "completely support" Cuomo after video shows him going off on guy who called him "Fredo."
In the video, Cuomo says that "Fredo" is the N-word to Italians.https://t.co/gQEbRS9jzm https://t.co/t39TNQZfHg

This is an official CNN spokesman saying "Fredo" is an ethnic slur. https://t.co/j7PbyJaAEL
— "Fredo" is racist toward Italians who are dumb (@jtLOL) August 13, 2019
CNN’s VP for communications and digital partnerships defended the host’s reaction after having been called “Fredo,” agreeing that it’s an “ethnic slur”:
Chris Cuomo defended himself when he was verbally attacked with the use of an ethnic slur in an orchestrated setup. We completely support him.

As it turns out, CNN might want to call a meeting and find a different talking point than “ethnic slur” Cuomo’s claim about the name “Fredo,” especially considering how much the word’s been used on their own network without objection or complaint from Chris Cuomo. Here’s a laundry list of examples why:
Recommended
Devin Nunes was referred to as “Fredo” on CNN in March. CNN’s David Gregory compared @DonaldJTrumpJr to “Fredo” in February. And in January, CNN’s Ana Navarro referred to @DonaldJTrumpJr as “Fredo”…to Cuomo on his own show. https://t.co/jXCUfFkYvs

Wait — is “Fredo” an “ethnic slur” as CNN says or not? https://t.co/lhyOLHbIYa

.@ananavarro slams Don Jr. for likening border wall to zoo fence: He's an "entitled, rich, spoiled little brat whose only call to fame is being his daddy's son."
"[D]addy kept Fredo back home…Who cares what [he] says. I don't want to talk about that entitled little brat." pic.twitter.com/zpTtp8ZfAd— Cuomo Prime Time (@CuomoPrimeTime) January 10, 2019
CNN's @mdornic says Fredo is an ethnic slur. Ok. Over to @TheRickWilson on CNN earlier this year: https://t.co/shDnPD5Fex

That time calling Don Jr. “Fredo” was A-OK… https://t.co/uh6waeLXga

Video: Someone tell Chris Cuomo that Chris Matthews needs to be thrown down some stairs for saying the Italian-American version of the n-word because, on April 9, Matthews told @JoaquinCastroTX that @DonaldJTrumpJr is the "Fredo-like son" of the First Family pic.twitter.com/aoGS7wSR5B

Here's ANOTHER one, telling @JackieSpeier on March 12 that, referring this time to Jared Kushner -> "Congresswoman, I don't know what to say here, except anybody who has seen 'The Godfather' is seeing Fredo here being manipulated by the guy out West." pic.twitter.com/pu8DZrPbxM

On November 9, Matthews said this about Trump firing Jeff Sessions and hiring Matt Whitaker after the midterms: "Just like in The Godfather, he waited for mom to die before he killed Fredo." pic.twitter.com/yFVUyCNy7v

If Cuomo’s correct, it looks like CNN and others have some work to do in order to remove the “ethnic slurs” from their archives.
"ethnic slur"

Calling this an ethnic slur is pretty out there.

People of the same political persuasion deemed the "OK" hand gesture to be white supremacist code, so no far-fetched assertion they make surprises me anymore.

Lol Fredo isn’t an ethnic slur @mdornic.. on the other hand your boy threatening to throw someone down the stairs, now that’s something https://t.co/Vt2xR6iyN5

CNN’s position is that “Fredo” is equivalent to the N word. Ok. Got it. https://t.co/jJPFa7JAXB

We’re waiting for “Reliable Sources” to present a spin on why “Fredo” is different when somebody on CNN uses it to describe a Republican as opposed to some random Chris Cuomo critic on the street.
