As Twitchy reported earlier Wednesday afternoon, Senate Democrats voted unanimously to block the Stop Insider Trading Act from advancing. Sen. Dick Durbin earned himself a ratio by posting that the act did not "adequately" ban congressional stock trading, even though it proposed a total ban on buying stocks for members, their spouses, and dependent children. Durbin added that it included "a sweeping voter suppression measure," also known as voter ID.
Sen. Chris Van Hollen also took to X to complain that the Stop Insider Trading Act was "fraudulent," as it was packaged with a bill to disenfranchise American voters.

But Republicans are trying to package a fraudulent version of that with a bill to disenfranchise American voters.
This is politics at its worst. Put a real ban on the floor if you’re serious.
Van Hollen and Durbin need to meet and align their talking points. Durbin said it wasn't a total ban on stock trading. Van Hollen seems to think it was, but it was packaged with a bill that would disenfranchise American voters.
