CNN’s Anderson Cooper Examines the Need for Climate Justice ($$$) in Nepal

As Twitchy reported last week, landslides and floodwaters raged through Nepal, killing more than a thousand and leaving more than 4,000 people missing. Western media was quick to blame climate change for the disaster. Bloomberg, ostensibly a business publication, posted that "a changing climate is bringing with it unstable glaciers and unpredictable rain." CNN tried to place the blame for the deaths on President Donald Trump, reporting that "in January 2025, the Trump administration cut off funding for a long-running natural hazards program that aimed to identify and monitor landslide hotspots in Nepal."

Michael Shellenberger was quick to call out the "miserable grifters" blaming a landslide on climate change. (A couple of years ago, CNN's Jake Tapper asked a seismologist if climate change was making earthquakes stronger.) Shellenberger told CNN that Nepal "had plenty of USAID and UN money but spent it on 'nature-based solutions' and 'gender inclusion' workshops rather than sensors and sirens."

For a piece noting the difference in the carbon footprint between the average Nepali resident and the average American, CNN flew Anderson Cooper and a camera crew to Nepal to talk to Nepal's foreign minister, who essentially called for reparations from the rest of the world.

Couldn't CNN have done this over Zoom?

CNN recently reported that climate change ranked at the bottom of voters' priorities, at 3 percent.

It's America's fault for polluting the air and America's fault for not sending Nepal more aid money.
