As Twitchy reported over the weekend, right-wing provocateur Jake Lang jumped into the bed of a pickup truck and rolled past Minneapolis City Hall, holding a giant cross and protesting the Islamification of the city. Police had urged the public to stay away, but a mob formed anyway, and Lang was arrested for probable cause riot. If you missed it, here's some video from the scene. (Language warning)

Violence erupting at a protest in Minneapolis.
Rioters are mobbing a vehicle flying a large cross and American flag.
Police have surrounded it just to keep the attackers off.
Pure chaos unfolding right now. pic.twitter.com/lxhASRLNis
Bernie Sanders, a little later to the party, asked on Monday if Mike Rogers, the Republican who is running for the Senate in Michigan, would condemn Lang's bigotry and hatred or continue to fan the flames of Islamophobia.
Trump-pardoned January 6 rioter Jake Lang is in Michigan targeting Abdul El-Sayed, burning Qurans and calling Muslims “insidious parasites.”
— Bernie Sanders (@BernieSanders) August 24, 2026
Will Mike Rogers and the Republican leadership condemn Lang’s bigotry and hatred—or will they continue to fan the flames of Islamophobia?
Rogers replied:
Hey Bernie — unlike Abdul El-Sayed, I have no issue disavowing fringe extremists who promote violence and seek to divide our state and country. Jake Lang is all of those things.
— Mike Rogers (@MikeRogersForMI) August 24, 2026
While I have your attention, I would like to know if Abdul will definitely say that he will not… https://t.co/vC0K60j1eg
The post continues:
… affiliate with people like Hasan Piker — who thinks that America deserved 9/11, self-identifies as a racist, and calls for the public execution of American capitalists.
Could you check in with your boy on that and let us know where he stands?
It's not as though Rogers has campaigned with Lang, as his opponent, Democratic Socialist Abdul El-Sayed, has with rabid antisemite Hasan Piker.
No one should want anything to do with Jake Lang, a hateful attention-seeking idiot who adds 0 value to society.
— AG (@AGHamilton29) August 24, 2026
But the demand for condemnation from various unassociated R’s is absurd coming from Bernie, who regularly enables and mainstreams the worst bigots on the left. https://t.co/IvKkIag2B2
As soon as you and Sayed stop supporting terrorists like Hamas and inciting Jew hatred.
— Man In The Middle with Rayme (@RaymonScannell) August 24, 2026
@BernieSanders Why on earth do Rogers & the GOP have to condemn Lang? Lang is not running for anything. He is a shock journalist.
— Truth Monger (@purplehead5) August 24, 2026
Bernie is endorsing El-Sayed, another socialist windbag with no solutions who has some vile friends, like Hasan Piker.
It's not bigotry or hatred or Islamophobia. It's situational awareness.
— Tommy Hill (@tome0806) August 24, 2026
Some ideas are bad for America. Bernie and Lang disagree on what those are. But notice who's calling for censure.
— N.D. Ely (@NDEly8) August 24, 2026
You and your buddy Abdul are Americaphobic. Get lost you treasonous liar. When they state they want to destroy our country, patriots believe them. That is being American, to defend our great nation. What you do when you hear them say that, is support and endorse them.
— Angel Mom Mary Ann Mendoza (@MaryAnn66538650) August 24, 2026
😂😂😂 The irony of Jewish Bernie Sanders being a mouthpiece for Islamist Abdul Sayed is astounding and dangerous at the same time
— Albanach (@albanach68) August 24, 2026
Have you denounced Abdul El Sayed and The Muslim Brotherhood yet? CAIR?
— MaisyMama (@Mama_Quigs) August 24, 2026
Are you being funded by Muslims? I’ve never heard you call out individuals for the attacks on Christians. Weird.
— Eyes Backward (@EyesBackward) August 24, 2026
Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed has openly campaigned with Hasan—enthusiastically courting Hasan’s support. Has Rogers hosted campaign events in which Lang is the featured guest? No, he has not. No equivalence. But, of course, you know this. You’re a shameless liar and conman.
— Lucius Mullhorn (@JEdgar95100348) August 24, 2026
You might want to read your comments Bernie, they seem to be far more on the side of @jakelang and probably for a very good reason since the US is being flooded with Muslims via mass immigration, just like Europe and the UK, there’s a reason behind this and it won’t end well!
— Darren Watson (@DarrenWatson) August 24, 2026
You support Abdul and Hasan Piker — who thinks that America deserved 9/11, self identifies as a racist, and calls for the public execution of American capitalists.
— AmericaeMagna (@Lour97722) August 24, 2026
So he said words and should be arrested? Is this the stance of Bernie Sanders campaign? Say things we dont like and we'll remove you?
— Railo Defense (@RailoDef) August 24, 2026
It wasn't that long ago that Sanders was pictured on stage campaigning with a man who had a Nazi Totenkopf tattoo on his chest. We don't recall Sanders ever condemning Graham Platner's Nazism. Maybe he should sit this one out. He asked if Rogers would condemn Lang, and Rogers did. Now it's Sanders' turn.
