VA Dems Introduce Bill Mandating Inclusion of Every Marginalized Group in History Curriculum

Twitter

Wow, am I glad I don't live in Virginia. Gov. Abigail Spanberger and the rest of the Democrats haven't wasted a second introducing all sorts of new legislation, including raised and new taxes.

I published a story earlier about an assemblywoman who apparently wants to compete with Minnesota when it comes to fraud. She wants to introduce legislation that bans the state government from determining, verifying, or otherwise requiring proof of eligibility for federal funds going to nonprofits. They're just blatantly inviting fraud now.

Greg Price has pointed out another Virginia House bill regarding history and social science standards and instruction in public schools. The amendment would ensure that every marginalized group that you can think of is included in the curriculum. Here's the first paragraph of the bill:

To ensure comprehensive, accurate, and inclusive education in public elementary and secondary schools, instructional materials and standards in history and social science shall include the contributions, perspectives, and experiences of historically marginalized communities, including racial and ethnic minorities; immigrants and refugees; women; individuals with disabilities; individuals who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+); individuals from various socioeconomic statuses; individuals from various religious backgrounds; and any other group of individuals that the Board deems appropriate, in order to affirm such communities and promote a more holistic understanding of history.

"Such content shall be age-appropriate, historically accurate, and integrated across grade levels and courses and shall specifically be included in the standards for Virginia and U.S. history."

In public elementary schools.

Loudon County is notorious. I'm not from Virginia, but even I know the place from all of the scandals.

Our own managing editor has solicited ideas for states where she could move.

This is why the midterm elections are so important. If Democrats take back control, expect all of this on a nationwide scale: critical race theory, academic queer theory, and everything else.
