Churches Get Creative With Their Anti-ICE Nativity Scenes

Twitter

Back in 2018, I reported on a church in Indianapolis that was getting a ton of media publicity after it enclosed its Nativity scene in a cage to protest President Donald Trump's immigration policies. The church's dean and rector told CNN, “That family is every family that is seeking safety for their children." Um, no.

As I said in a post I published on Tuesday, I'm no biblical scholar, but I know that Mary and Joseph were not refugees, and they were not, as Al Gore told us, homeless. That hasn't stopped woke churches across the country from erecting anti-ICE Nativity scenes. This new one I'm reading about isn't even close to the worst. That would be the one that had the Christ child in zip-ties, because, as the church's pastor explained to the media, "that's an actual incident that happened in our city." Yes, ICE zip-tied a newborn infant in Chicago. I'll just have to take his word for it.

Other Nativity scenes have baby Jesus missing and replaced by an "ICE WAS HERE" sign, and the whole Holy Family removed and replaced with the sign, "Due to ICE activity in our community, the Holy Family is in hiding." I forget which one added Roman centurions with handcuffs as stand-ins for ICE agents.

Here's the new one that just came across my feed. This is in Charlotte, where our man Matt Van Swol is on the ground.

It amazes me that not only did someone have to come up with that idea, but also put in the work to make five dummies and dress them up as ICE agents. That took effort, and at no time during its construction did it occur to anyone that it was idiotic.

No, they were refugees.

What's scary is that this church has parishioners who support this idiocy.

Because I'm a member of Gen X, I take it personally when anyone insults us. So I was insulted when a woman said that Boomers and Gen Z lack empathy because they didn't cheer a school walkout in protest of ICE.

We're not allergic to empathy, but neither are we controlled by it. This woman would stand in front of an ICE SUV to prevent them from detaining an illegal alien rapist and murderer. It's not empathy to want the problem of illegal immigration just ignored, but that seems to be what they want. Just leave everyone alone, regardless of legal status. Don't do anything. We're bet she's silently glad that President Trump finally got control of the border, though.

How much empathy did Joe Biden muster when he was shamed into mentioning "Lincoln" Riley during his State of the Union address? Did he show empathy for the family of the woman who was raped and murdered by an illegal Venezuelan immigrant? No, he went on MSNBC the next day and apologized for calling her murderer an "illegal immigrant" … he should have said "undocumented," and for THAT he was sorry.

Two words: suicidal empathy.
