As we told you, MSNBC brought back Rachel Maddow to anchor for five days a week during the first 100 days of the Trump administration after she took a $5 million pay cut and got used to appearing for one hour a week. MSNBC obviously knew that they needed the absolute best to take on whatever Donald Trump was going to do.
With every cut that DOGE has made, Democrats have argued that the job or study was essential. The Daily Beast praised Maddow for straightening out Trump on his claim during his joint address to Congress that the federal government was spending $8 million to make mice transgender. Fortunately, Maddow knows science and called him out.

Fortunately, on Friday, Rachel Maddow was on hand to clear up any confusion, opening her segment by laughing at how few viewers Trump’s speech to Congress had (it was the least viewed of all of his addresses). Maddow continued, “I know you didn’t watch. But one of the things he said in his speech was that one of the terrible, liberal things that his top campaign donor had discovered was happening in government was research to make mice transgender.”
She went on to explain, “Actually, it’s transgenic mice. And transgenic mice are used in all kinds of laboratory research because mice are transgenic when they have been genetically altered so you can study human illnesses and conditions in them, even though they’re mice.”
She finished with, “It is transgenic mice, you numbskulls. But sure, go ahead and shut down all the labs studying all the diseases because what are you, 5?”
Is this the same Maddow who called out Trump for giving his friend Elon Musk a $400 million contract to build armored electric vehicles … when the contract was signed during the Biden administration? She quietly clarified that one the following night. But Maddow is never wrong.
Yahoo! News reported, "Trump said the US spent $8m on transgender mice – he was right." And CNN backtracked on its fact-check, appending:
An earlier version of this item incorrectly characterized as false Trump’s claim about federal money being spent for “making mice transgender.” The article has been updated with context about the spending, which was for research studies on the potential human health impacts of treatments used in gender-affirming care.
"Go ahead and shut down all of the labs," Maddow said, and I tend to agree.

And from the people who called ivermectin "horse paste" and insist to this day that Trump told Americans to inject themselves with bleach.
Liberals like Maddow always concede that there are ways the government could do better, but they never propose any solutions — the status quo is what they're comfortable with.
If I want to learn the truth about government waste, I'm not going to turn on MSNBC. Every Festivus, Sen. Rand Paul releases his "grievance thread" listing a bunch of the things the government has wasted money on, like having lizards run on treadmills ($1.6 million). USAID has already been exposed as a slush fund for leftist causes both at home and overseas.
The Daily Beast really thought Maddow had something here.
