Andy Ngo: Biden’s DOJ Made Payments to BLM/Antifa to Settle Lawsuits

AP Photo/Noah Berger

As Breitbart reported, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland told Senators during his confirmation hearings that he didn’t believe the attacks by left-wing extremists against the federal courthouse in Portland constituted “domestic terrorism” because, unlike the storming of the Capitol, they took place after office hours. It didn't matter that "protesters" were shooting fireworks into the windows in order to set the building on fire or shining green lasers into the eyes of law enforcement to blind them.

Antifa and other leftist extremists laid siege to the federal courthouse in Portland in 2021 as part of the Black Lives Matter movement. I would say I couldn't believe it wasn't a bigger story, but who was going to report on it? Twitter was the only place to find information about Antifa trying to set a federal building on fire with people in it. I kept watch on it. Now I'm learning from The Post-Millennial that arrested rioters are getting a payout from the Justice Department.

Hayden Cunningham reports:

A lawsuit filed on behalf of protesters during the 2020 Black Lives Matter riots in Portland has resulted in a settlement agreement with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Oregon. The settlement includes financial compensation to individuals who claimed they were harmed by the actions of federal law enforcement deployed during the unrest.

The lawsuit alleged that federal agents, sent to Portland by the Trump administration, had “beaten, shot, and abducted” protesters, journalists, and medics. It argued that the force used by law enforcement violated the constitutional rights of individuals to peacefully protest.

In a statement, the ACLU of Oregon criticized the tactics employed by federal officers, particularly the use of tools like tear gas and pepper spray. The organization referred to these as “chemical weapons” that are “banned in international warfare because of their severe and indiscriminate impact on human life and health.”

This siege lasted for months. Here's a taste:

But it was a mostly peaceful protest.

I bring this up specifically because of two reasons. One is that people are mad that service members who were fired for not taking the COVID-19 vaccine that didn't protect you from contracting COVID are being reinstated with back pay.

Another is a suggestion from Townhall columnist Kurt Schlichter that January 6 defendants who've been pardoned get multimillion-dollar restitution.

That would be ideal.

I remember the whining and gnashing of teeth from the BLM rioters whenever one of their own was chucked into the back of a police van and "kidnapped." But now, thanks to the ACLU, they're being compensated for their "injuries."

Make it make sense.
