Poor Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez … all of the media buzz over President Joe Biden fundraiser George Clooney writing an op-ed calling for Biden to drop out completely overshadowed her big news — she'd filed articles of impeachment against Supreme Court Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas. As we noted, most of the rest of the squad were co-sponsors: Reps. Barbara Lee, Rashida Tlaib, Bonnie Watson Coleman, Delia Ramirez, Maxwell Frost, Ilhan Omar, Jamaal Bowman, and Jasmine Crockett.
We haven't seen anything in the news today about it either. Salon, though, is reportedly working on a story about the prospects of a special counsel investigating Thomas. They reached out to the Manhattan Institute's Ilya Shapiro for comment, and here's what he wrote:
1. I got an email from a @Salon reporter wanting to chat about “the prospects of a Special Counsel investigating Clarence Thomas.” I’m dealing with a travel snafu and other things so couldn’t talk, but I said there wasn’t much to discuss anyway and also gave this statement:

2. There’s zero chance of any special-counsel investigations, impeachment inquiries, or anything else of legitimate seriousness with regard to Justice Thomas or anyone else left-wing activists and media (but I repeat myself) target because they don’t like having lost control of…

"… having lost control of the Supreme Court."
3. The reporter followed up with “Do you have any comment on the disclosed and disclosed gifts to Justice Thomas from Harlan Crow and others? Are concerns about the gifts overblown, and if so, why exactly?”
— Ilya Shapiro (@ishapiro) July 11, 2024
4. I replied: Justice Thomas has complied with all Supreme Court ethics rules, which of course have recently changed when the justices unanimously issued a new policy. There’s no ethical problem with getting gifts from friends who have no business before the court…

5. No number of breathless nonthingburgers from ProPublica or false flag operations (literally) by the New York Times can hide the fact that there’s no there there. It’s all just a left-wing dark-money smear campaign aimed at delegitimizing the Court…

6. which still enjoys much more popular confidence then Congress, the presidency, or any other federal institution save the military.”

I suppose there are worse ways to spend airline delays!
This is correct. Except for missing that part about AOC being dumber than a box of hammers. https://t.co/kTlEgjFFhk

Talk about undermining the Supreme Court just because the Dems don't control it …

Their new bright idea is to pack the Court with four new liberal politicians in robes and to require a “supermajority of the Court to overturn a federal law or agency… pic.twitter.com/DDUMEmOjco

At least this takes some of the heat off of Alito for flying an Appeal to Heaven flag over his beach house last summer.
Had she heard of separation of powers

Apparently, a lot of people haven't. Congress really wants control of the Supreme Court.
I’m looking forward to Trump adding 2 Thomas’s and 2 Alito’s.

Let's see if the leftist trash paper sticks with this idea when Trump wins the presidency, and the Senate is in republican hands. I'd bet they change their tune real fast.

"Expand the Supreme Court. And weaken it."
How about no.
