Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is set to announce his 2024 candidacy in just a few hours on Twitter, the “far-right social network” that should strike fear into the hearts of black people. The Hill sort of gave away the game with its tweet that DeSantis had filed to run against Donald Trump, not for the presidency.

I think he's filing to run against Biden, but ok.

CNN Politics has a piece out today listing all of DeSantis’ wins this year, and the Washington Post’s Paul Farhi listed them so we don’t have to read CNN’s site:

Fact-check:
I'd double-check the facts on the unanimous jury verdicts. I thought that was just for sentencing.
— Nick Stehle (@nstehle) May 24, 2023
Fam – a jury must still reach a unanimous guilty verdict.
The change is that the sentencing phase no longer requires a unanimous jury to impose the death penalty.
Pedos may also quality for the death penalty.
But yeah, it’s a very based policy agenda.
— Jeremy Redfern (@JeremyRedfernFL) May 24, 2023
He did not eliminate unanimous jury verdicts in death-penalty cases.
A unanimous jury is still required to convict. It's just no longer required for the death penalty after the unanimous conviction is determined.

Even we were surprised that he’s signed all of this into law in just the last two months — we’d thought some of this was from last year. If he can do this in two months, imagine what he could do with four or even eight years.
