Here’s something … a clip of AFT President Randi Weingarten posted by the union and not Weingarten herself, so that the replies aren’t turned off! People are actually allowed to respond to the crap Weingarten says, and in her case, that always means a ratio. She honestly might be the most hated woman on Twitter — she’s up there, at least.
Earlier this week, Weingarten testified before Congress and Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene took a lot of heat from both liberals and conservatives by pointing out that Weingarten isn’t a parent. Weingarten’s wife has grown stepchildren, though. Right-wingers accused Greene of undermining adoption — there are a lot of mothers and fathers who don’t have biological children.
Weingarten could have left it alone and enjoyed the tiny bit of empathy headed her way, but instead, she went on to MSNBC to describe the homophobic attacks against her to Nicolle Wallace.

You can see by the chyron — “Greene says adoptive parents or parents through marriage aren’t real because they’re ‘not biological'” — that MSNBC picked up that ball and ran with it.
She tried to change history in real time, got caught in the lie so NOW she hides behind her orientation and status as a step parent.

Hiding behind her wife's adult ex-stepkids doesn't absolve her of her culpability in the fear mongering around school reopening.
And there is no similarity between parenting and marrying someone who had adult stepkids in a previous marriage.

In case you missed it, she testified that she was pushing for schools to reopen since February 2020 — a claim easily debunked.
