Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell losing their committee assignments shouldn’t have been a surprise; Kevin McCarthy said he was going to do it if Republicans took back the House. Now that they (and Ilhan Omar) have lost their committee assignments, the crying and rending of garments are almost too much to take. Seriously: Neither Schiff nor Swalwell will shut up about it.
Riding in to white-knight for them is Rep. Jamie Raskin, most distinguished by serving on the January 6 select committee. He complains that McCarthy has seated serial fabulist George Santos on a committee and has “bowed and scraped” to “compulsive liar and conman” Donald Trump.

Lying is bad, but we must admit we’re getting a kick out of Santos, whose background is as fictitious as President Joe Biden’s. And since Raskin’s brief on the January 6 committee was to make sure Trump never held office again, he probably had Trump on the brain.
