Matt Taibbi already brought us a batch of Twitter files Tuesday which showed just how hard the intelligence community pushed Twitter to find some sort of coordinated Russian disinformation campaign, but a manual review of thousands of accounts only turned up a few that could be described as Russian actors. The FBI and others were desperate to have a Russian disinformation campaign revealed on which it could blame things like the Hunter Biden laptop story.
Taibbi is back with more Twitter files, and these show how the government tried to dismiss COVID-19 conspiracy theories — such as the theory that the virus was created in a lab in Wuhan — as Russian disinformation.

10.When the State Department/GEC – remember this was 2020, during the Trump administration – wanted to publicize a list of 5,500 accounts it claimed would “amplify Chinese propaganda and disinformation” about COVID, Twitter analysts were beside themselves.
