Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis looks like a solid Republican nominee for 2024. On Tuesday, he enjoyed a blowout 19-point win over challenger Charlie Crist and inspired a lot of pundits to say “Florida is now a red state” by winning in traditionally blue counties.
As we reported, former President Donald Trump unloaded on DeSantis after his epic reelection, calling him “Ron DeSanctimonious” and suggesting he was the reason his race against Andrew Gillum wasn’t stolen. Lincoln Project co-founder Ron Wilson seemed to have found a newfound respect for DeSantis after that, tweeting that he was the leading Never Trump candidate.

There’s another check in the DeSantis column … he’s already been attacked like Trump for his entire first term over every policy decision. All the people wanting “pandemic amnesty” now are the ones who called him DeathSantis.
Seriously, though, did the Lincoln Project even back any Republican candidates in the midterms, or just trash those endorsed by Trump? They’re Democrats all the way now and there’s no going back.
