Twitchy favorite Max Nordau has been keeping the opposition busy over the past few days, ever since he tweeted about that video of January 6 select committee member Rep. Jamie Raskin questioning the result of the 2000 election. Raskin also objected to the certification of electoral votes for Donald Trump in 2017, and no one raised an eyebrow.
As we reported, Talking Points Memo’s Josh Marshall sure seemed to get testy with Nordau when asked flat out who won the 2000 election.
The thread is still going, and now former Sen. Barbara Boxer is weighing in.
Comparing Trump's Big Lie to Bush v Gore is the most Intellectually dishonest argument ever. They are in no way comparable.
In fact, it seems designed to validate the lies and violence of J6.

Your principle seems to be that denying an election is fine as long as you're a Democrat.
The 2020 election was closer than the 2004 election, but your party tried to overturn that one too, based on conspiracy theories about Diebold.https://t.co/Hs24yDRgif

From the article you posted, "The move was not designed to overturn the re-election of President Bush, said Ohio Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones and California Sen. Barbara Boxer, who filed the objection."
Comparing legit concerns to Trump's outright fabrications is pretty lame dude

Thank you for speaking truth to straight out lies. https://t.co/2bwhNJijJa
— Barbara Boxer (@BarbaraBoxer) September 7, 2022
See, Boxer came right out and said her objective wasn’t designed to overturn Bush’s re-election, so we have to believe her, right? She was just bringing up concerns, right? Just like Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones was bringing up concerns about Diebold voting machines. Those were legitimate concerns.
So you are fine with what Cruz and Hawley did, right?
— Bonchie (@bonchieredstate) September 7, 2022
Oh, sure. That’s exactly what Josh Hawley and the rest said, too. https://t.co/XMA8M9VptM pic.twitter.com/5WkVcy45Kr

I genuinely can’t believe after the BS w COVID.. that any logical human would say “Gee, people that are questioning the election sure are crazy”.
— Brandy (@IAMMEBrandy) September 7, 2022
2020 was the most secure election ever.
Debunked voting machine conspiracy theories are legit? Pretty lame dude.
— Nate (@THERealN8SNAKE) September 7, 2022
The Democrat have been pushing to address voter DISENFRANCHISEMENT. Again, the article posted literally mentions this.
From pulling voting machines in minority areas, to purging rolls that contain eligible voters.
These concerns have absolutely nothing to do with conspiracy.
— JohnAshley 🌻🌻🌻🌻 (@ActualJAshley) September 7, 2022
With the Democrats, it’s always voter suppression. Asking for voter ID is voter suppression. Not letting candidates hand out food and water to people in line to vote is voter suppression.
It was all a Big Lie.
— max (@MaxNordau) September 7, 2022
As the Washington Examiner reports:
Democratic activists claimed that Bush had cheated. First, they accused Republicans of suppressing the vote, but of course, that wasn’t really new — they always accuse Republicans of suppressing the vote. Then they blamed the GOP for long lines at some polling places. Then came what today would be called the crazies: Some Democrats began to embrace theories that electronic voting machines had secretly switched votes from Kerry to Bush. There was much discussion, amplified on the internet in those pre-social media days, about the machine-maker Diebold and the alleged security flaws in its machines that made them susceptible to hacking.
And Rep. Bennie Thompson, chair of the January 6 select committee? “Thompson joined the protest that would have overturned a presidential election had it succeeded.”
My position on Republicans who voted not to certify the 2020 election has softened over the last two years. There were problems with the 2020 election, and Democrats fanatically oppose even the smallest steps to improve election security, integrity, and transparency. https://t.co/VC2Un6EI6J

No, Boxer never intended to overturn the election … or maybe she knew she couldn’t overturn the election but tried anyway.
But 2020 … if you opposed the certification of electoral votes for Joe Biden, you’re an insurrectionist and should be prevented from holding office.
Note: Calling it now … someone from Boxer’s office will email us a complaint about this post. We’ll post it here when we get it.
