Believe it or not, there are a lot of people giving wounded warrior Joey Jones grief about his tweet, saying they thought people signed up for the military out of love for their country and patriotism, not for a free ride through college. Recruiters certainly aren’t shy about it, though, and there are plenty who sign up for military service for that reason. As we’ve said in plenty of posts today, the majority of those covered under President Joe Biden’s debt cancellation plan are upper-middle-class whites.

Thank you for your service. My son chose a zero frills federal service academy instead of a leafy private college. He’s now working on a ship to pay back his obligation. This is a bitter pill to swallow.

My son who is active duty, currently working on his Bachelor all at the same time, juggling his time between that, along the gym, girlfriend & social life will be paying for those that makes 3x more than him & all the time in the world for leisure. Definitely an Oorah

My wife and I worked two jobs to pay for our children's college tuition, didn't take out loans…just busted our asses to make sure our kids didn't have to carry the debt. If they had taken out student loans, I would fully expect them to pay it back. Thank you for your service.

It’s astounding how mean some of the replies are. How much did taxpayers pay for your medical bills? Taxpayers paid to send you to war. Why should others suffer because you’re so bitter? (Narrator: Jones is not bitter — far from it.)
