Police say the motive behind the stabbing of Salman Rushdie remains unclear

As Twitchy reported Friday, author Salman Rushdie was stabbed as he was about to give a talk at the Chautauqua Institution in western New York State. Iran’s Ayatollah Khomeini had issued a fatwa against Rushdie in 1989 after the publication of “The Satanic Verses.”
