It was 2017 when we covered our first Drag Queen Story Hour at a library in Canada. We didn’t realize that Drag Queen Story Hour was an organization putting these events on internationally. At first, they were held in public libraries. Then we saw stories about public school kids being bussed to the library for a performance. Now we’re seeing public schools embrace Drag Queen Story Hour. And why not? Drag queens are fun!
We weren’t sure whether to believe this next tweet, but Craig Mauger says he covers state government for the Detroit News. And at a civil rights conference in Lansing, Michigan, Attorney General Dana Nessel declared that “drag queens make everything better” and called for “a drag queen for every school.”
"Drag queens make everything better. Drag queens are fun," Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel says at a civil rights conference in Lansing while speaking out against what she describes as efforts to divide people.
"A drag queen for every school," she adds.

She acknowledged the "drag queen for every school" line had not been poll tested.

Let’s test it now.
Yikes, that's quite the campaign slogan going into the midterms.

If that doesn't show up in an attack and against her, I'll be amazed.

They are picking the strangest hills to die on, it really is baffling.

I agree, at a bar or a nightclub, drag queens make everything fabulous. But my kid isn’t in a bar 8 hours a day, she’s in school. Just like I wouldn’t take her to a bar to learn math, I don’t want drag queens at her school.

Why the obsession with drag queens for young students? It's very odd. Drag is like vaudeville – it's a show meant to entertain adults.

Why is this necessary? Why are they pushing this so hard? What is it supposed to accomplish?
— Sherie 🐿🦝🐇🐈⬛🦮 (@MaxCeOlivia) June 15, 2022
Indeed … why are they pushing this so hard? What’s the compulsion behind “kid-friendly” drag shows?
I swear this is all an attempt to start “owning the cons.” Election time will tell.

We’re pretty sure that was exactly it. She threw it out there to own the cons, but words have consequences.
