Teachers explains why her little pride flag 'is the most important part of my classroom'

Here’s another gem from Libs of TikTok. We’ll give this teacher one thing … she doesn’t have the crazy eyes that every other teacher we see on TikTok seems to share. She also speaks softly, although she admits she teaches in a very conservative state, so she’s probably used to whispering so she’s not carted off the prison for saying “gay.” It says enough that she considers her little pride flag the most important part of her classroom, but listen to the very end — if any of her students have a problem with it, they can find another teacher. She’s created a safe space for learning, and that’s what’s critical.

Remember when New York Times editorial board member and MSNBC contributor Mara Gay said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that the “dozens of Americans flags” she saw on a recent visit to Long Island were “just disturbing”? To her, the message was clear: “This is my country. This is not your country. I own this.”

If she lives in a very conservative state, why haven’t the police come to her classroom and arrested her? There must be some law against having a little pride flag hanging up … although we’d note it’s not a progressive pride flag and doesn’t represent transgender kids, black and brown kids, intersex kids, and kids who are sex workers. Just a standard pride flag is pretty bigoted.
