Sen. Dick Durbin asks why Sen. Josh Hawley is introducing legislation now to toughen child pornography sentences

Hmm … has there been anything in the news recently about sentencing guidelines for child pornography offenders needing to be revised? Well, there were the Supreme Court confirmation hearings for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, who argued that sentencing guidelines for child pornography offenders are “leading to extreme disparities in the system” and need to be revised … downward. You used to have to get your child porn through the mail, but now it’s just a click or two and you can have thousands of images of child porn on your hard drive. Shouldn’t that ease of access figure into sentences?

Sen. Josh Hawley, who subjected Jackson to “QAnon-signaling smears,” has introduced legislation to toughen sentences for child porn offenders, and Sen. Dick Durbin wants to know why he’s introduced it now, today.

Yes, Democrats are now arguing for lighter sentences for child porn offenses.

President Joe Biden’s nomination of Jackson brought this subject to the table, and now Democrats like Durbin need to parrot her policies.
