We’re not sure why Spotify is bending the knee at all over critics of Joe Rogan; losing Neil Young and Joni Mitchell is not that big of a deal in defense of free speech, but like most tech companies, it seems it wants to prove it’s woke. Spotify CEO Daniel Ek wrote to staffers that he didn’t believe silencing Rogan was the answer — but he did promise to invest $100 million toward content from “historically marginalized groups.” Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey wrote a check for only $10 million to Ibram X. Spotify says it will invest $100 million towards content from 'historically marginalized groups' after criticism of Joe Rogan's podcast https://t.co/drmRH1MNdo

And investing in these historically marginalized groups is not going to get them anywhere close to Rogan’s audience.
BREAKING: Spotify CEO apologizes to staff for continuing to host Joe Rogan, says he will continue contract while investing $100M in artists from 'marginalized groups'

Woke capitalism strikes again! Bow to the far Left's funding proposals so perhaps they'll leave you alone and allow you to continue doing business with the top voice in podcasting. Feeding the alligator ain't gonna stop it. https://t.co/oo43p7cmrP

It's impressive how they managed to disappoint everyone involved

We’re witnessing the death of Spotify and GoFundMe at the same time. I think 2022 is going to turn out OK

Well how about that. The CEO apologizes, but wants to eat all the cake too. I see. Trying to make everyone happy will make absolutely no one happy.

Spotify needs to understand that it you positively reinforce a behavior, you will get more of that behavior in the future. #learning
They're rewarding activists for smearing @Spotify

We live in a complete clown world. It has accelerated faster than I could have ever imagined. Think of where we will be in a decade. Some of us will probably be refugees living in Paraguay or Belarus.

So that's $100M for religious artists, pro-life artists, pro-free speech artists and pro-homeschooling artists? Awesome!

@joerogan is a member of the newest American marginalized group.

Marginalised groups like Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.

I mean, if you don’t like it, don’t listen to it. He’s a guy having conversations with other people. He’s not on Congress wasting taxpayer dollars — that’s where your attention really needs to be focused.

oh that will be a ratings winner.. 🤣

I am so tired of this "woke" BS. You don't have to apologize for existing every time somebody sneezes their disapproval. 🤦♂️
— LoneWolf907 (@LoneWolf907) February 7, 2022
I thought this was about misinformation
— Opto skeptic (@skeptic_septic) February 7, 2022
Yeah, wasn’t the problem that Rogan was putting out COVID-19 misinformation?
Now that he's groveling to his staff, I predict the Spotify board of directors will remove the CEO, and the new CEO will cancel Joe.

I'm getting sick of this obsession with "marginalized groups". True marginalization is not holding certain groups to the same standard as others based on immutable traits. Special treatment is demeaning.
— Elle Driver's Firebird (@JacobyChrisrt) February 7, 2022
Awesome plan @Spotify. So, here's how this plays out. You piss Rogan off & his millions of listeners. You lose the trust of independent artists and creators. You get stuck investing a hundred millions dollars in unlistenable Woke garbage (think: Air America). Your company dies.

“Marginalized Groups” 😂. Smart business move. Think of the as revenue those fringe podcasts will all bring in
— Mike Sullivan (@MikeDSully) February 7, 2022
Well it's about time we had some Inuit rappers
— Conor McTether (@ConorMcTether) February 7, 2022
If these marginalized groups get $100 million to produce content for Spotify, are they still marginalized?
