This certainly isn’t the first time we’ve seen this stunt pulled. Progressive Oklahoma state representative Forrest Bennett thinks he’s owned the cons by proposing that a man be held financially responsible for his baby at conception — which assumes that life begins at conception, which is correct.
This week I filed HB3129, which codifies that a father’s financial responsibility to his baby & their mom begins at conception.
If Oklahoma is going to restrict a woman’s right to choose, we sure better make sure the man involved can’t just walk away from his responsibility.

And?
Congratulations, you're a conservative https://t.co/GL4az67k0B

That's kind of the pro life argument dude.

Good.
That’s another issue we’ve wanted to tackle as well.
At least now we will have the baseline that life begins at conception.

Fantastic. Sounds great.

THANK YOU, Mr. Bennett.
Acknowledging that human life begins at conception is a beautiful thing!
Welcome to the right side of history.

This shouldn't even be controversial #CommonDecency

Your terms are acceptable. I hope you realize that most pro-life people would support this.

Sounds like a bill everyone who is pro-life would likely support.

As a pro-life person, I agree. Just curious if you thought this would trigger us, because LOL if you did.
— Louis Zano (@WeldtoWrite) January 22, 2022
Fascinated by how insulated your bubble must be to think this won’t have plenty of support from pro-lifers.

There’s nothing unreasonable about fathers providing for their children.
— Fr. Max Nightingale (@maxnightingale) January 22, 2022
That’s a great idea. Dads should absolutely be provider and protector.

As someone who is 100% pro-life, I just want to say welcome aboard…we've been saying the same thing for decades now. Better to jump on board with us late than never!

Extremely conservative bill. Well done Forrest!

Great idea! Recognize the life and compel personal responsibility.
— John Call (@AchooMooMoo) January 22, 2022
This is a great idea. But all great ideas need a name. I submit for your consideration the name, "child support." I think it has real potential to catch on.
— Eric Spencer (@JustEric) January 22, 2022
Yes, please do it. A child is a child because it is conceived of his parents, and thus the responsibilities of the parents towards the child begin at conception.

I’ll be assigning bills tomorrow morning. I’m going to make sure this bill gets a hearing. Who knew Forrest was such a champion for pro life?
— Rep. Josh West (@JoshWestOKHD5) January 22, 2022
Agree 100%! Thank you for recognizing life begins at conception and that both parents are responsible for that life.
