As The Hill reports, the real story here is that the governor of New Mexico, Michelle Lujan Grisham, has reached a settlement of at least $62,500 with a former campaign staffer following accusations that she poured water on his crotch and grabbed it through his clothes in front of other staffers during a campaign meeting in 2018.
The Albuquerque Journal reported that Lujan Grisham’s campaign made five monthly payments of $12,500 from November through March listed as legal expenses.
To the Sante Fe New Mexican, however, the real story is the Republican Governors Association pouncing on Lujan Grisham.
The Republican Governors Association pounced on Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Tuesday following revelations of a settlement of at least $62,500 with a former campaign staffer who accused the first-term Democrat of grabbing his genitals.https://t.co/a9UWb4ZF0c

Sounds to me like she’s the one who did the pouncing here

Governor settled? Wow seems like a big story.
— s.m. (@sho_of_hands) April 13, 2021
Whoah. Hold the fuck up. How does the story become "Republicans pounce…?"
The story should be centered on a superior abusing their power in a humiliating way over a subordinate. This phrasing is gross and the headline writer should fix it.
— Jeff W (@JefftheWASP) April 13, 2021
Ah yes, the Republican reaction is the story here. Very good, lap dogs.
— Shane Styles (@shaner5000) April 13, 2021
don't you think the bigger story is the governor grabbing her staffer's genitals? as opposed to the reaction to the news?
— Nick (@NickAtNight128) April 13, 2021
I think there's a bigger story here than how the Republicans reacted to a sexual assault settlement
— NonCompliance Mike (@MrMikeD42) April 13, 2021
Pounced? Really? You don't think this is information that all citizens of your state should know?
— Jim Eagle – White Boy Summer 2021 (@EssentialBusin7) April 13, 2021
The Republicans "pounced"? Are you sure they didn't "seize"?
BTW, are you more concerned about the GOP's reaction or the fact that the Governor of New Mexico grabbed a dude's package?
— AdamInHTownTX (Freedom Loving Neanderthal) (@AdamInHTownTX) April 13, 2021
Damn those Republican governors! They know they weren’t supposed to talk about a governor sexually abusing someone in their employ!
You guys are so damn stupid you can’t hide your bias.
— B. Steve White (@bstevewhite) April 13, 2021
Republicans always “pouncing”. This is so expected from the liberal press. How about a little concern for the victim and less Democrat propaganda.
— Melissa (@tchangel) April 13, 2021
No pouncing at the Santa Fe New Mexican. Defending Democrats at all times is what they do there.
— P.C. Outsider (@PhilOutsider) April 13, 2021
This does seem like a big news story — the settlement, that is.
