An 'automated error' caused Facebook to take down a fundraising page for Georgia Republicans

Just four days before the Senate runoff election in Georgia that pits Republican incumbents David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler against Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, Facebook took down the page of the Georgia Battleground Fund.

The Daily Caller reports that, according to a Facebook spokesperson, the page has been restored and that its removal was the result of an “automated error.”

A Facebook company spokesperson said that the account was shut down in error and has since been restored.

“An automated error caused this ad account to be disabled,” the company spokesperson said. “The account has since been restored.”

The NRSC’s Twitter post included a screenshot showing that the ad account was “disabled for [a] policy violation.”

“We don’t allow ads that promote products, services, schemes or offers using deceptive or misleading practices, including those meant to mislead or scam people out of money or personal information,” the note said.

Funny how these mistakes always go in one direction, isn’t it?

For all the people calling Sen. Josh Hawley’s upcoming objection to the certification of the election “treason” and “sedition,” don’t forget that one of his stated objections was the interference of social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter on behalf of the Biden campaign.

Not everyone is sympathetic to the Republicans.

Not the best timing for an “automated error.”
