Gov. Gavin Newsom moved by nativity scene that puts Joseph, Mary, and Jesus in cages, trips over Obama

This is only sort of new. In the summer of 2018, big names like CNN were fascinated by an Indianapolis church’s nativity scene staged inside wire fencing to protest the detention centers at the southern border. It was kind of lazy, really, but it grabbed the media’s attention.

Admittedly, it’s nice that the media notices the work of churches every once in a while, and the New York Times, People, and others have been eager to cover a similar setup this year at Claremont United Methodist Church in California. Except this time the church went the extra mile and separated Jesus, Mary, and Joseph and put each into their own cage, complete with barbed wire at the top.

Have any interviewers asked the church how many years they’ve been setting up this display? Because we bet this is the first time.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom was impressed enough to retweet and give his own little sermon:

Just imagine.

Kind of like when Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had illegal immigrants drinking out of toilets … or, more precisely, water fountains mounted on top of toilets. Same difference.

We’ll say this; it’s good to see the governor of California show some compassion, even for inanimate objects.
