Greta Thunberg says she's been striking for over a year 'and still basically nothing has happened'

16-year-old Greta Thunberg can’t say that nothing has happened during her year-long climate strike — they did spray-paint that giant Soviet-style mural of her in San Francisco.

Sky News reports that Thunberg has made it to the U.N.’s climate talks — aka COP25 — in Madrid after a three-week transatlantic journey from the United States on a supposedly carbon-neutral boat and a 10-hour train ride.

But — surprise! — she still thinks no one has done enough to stop the imminent demise of the planet due to climate change.

Sky News says Thunberg told reporters, “We have been striking now for over a year, and still basically nothing has happened.” The thing is, the U.S. could reduce its carbon emissions and she’d still call it “basically nothing,” because what’s she’s really looking for is something much wider in scale, as she admitted in a recent op-ed:

After all, the climate crisis is not just about the environment. It is a crisis of human rights, of justice, and of political will. Colonial, racist, and patriarchal systems of oppression have created and fueled it. We need to dismantle them all.

So, in short, nothing will ever be enough, and she’ll always be griping that “basically nothing has happened.” No wonder world leaders are ignoring her.

No, she says there’s no point in going to school to search for a solution to climate change because it’s already too late; by the time kids in school now finish their studies, the world will be inhabitable. It’s up to the adults in power now to fix it, now.
