As Twitchy reported, the lesson to be learned from this week’s election in Virginia is to never resign, no matter how serious the controversy. Gov. Ralph “Coonman” Northam declared on election night that “Virginia is officially blue” after election results showed a complete Democrat takeover of the state.
As Ben Domenech put it, “Two blackface scandals, a sexual assault accusation, and post-birth abortion comments did zero damage to Democrats in Virginia, now a solidly blue state.”
The Washington Post has a different perspective to share, though.
Perspective: A bright blue Virginia leaves the Confederacy behind https://t.co/OExpi9DT93

Never thought putting coonman in charge would be the tipping point.

That's the one with the governor wearing blackface and dressing up as a grand wizard, right? How far behind would you say the Confederacy has been left? https://t.co/WOf5fVz2bb
— Seth Mandel (@SethAMandel) November 7, 2019
hey he only did one of those things, we're just not sure which!
— Almaqah (@_Almaqah) November 7, 2019
Also when that happened it was then discovered that like every politician in Virginia has dressed in blackface. I think we need a generational shift here. Basically the whole state needs to say OK BOOMER

They prefer the early 20th century form of racism, with eugenics, school segregation and minstrel shows in the governor's mansion.

A governor in blackface and two sexual assaulters, one of a TEEN.
Virginia didn’t leave the confederacy behind at all, they’re as backwoods as you can get.
— Jimni27 (@jimni27) November 7, 2019
Democrats haven’t had this kind of control over Virginia since the confederacy
— Stinky T. Cat (@stinkytcat1) November 7, 2019
Weren't the Confederates Democrats?
— Filthy Comfortable (@FilthyComforta2) November 7, 2019
The Confederacy were also democrats. So the Democratic governor in blackface has somehow left the Confederacy behind. Color me confused
— Lilah Thomas (@Thomas93Lilah) November 7, 2019
Confederacy = democrats
It’s 1861 in Virginia
— shhh…its a secret (@AnmarieInTwitmo) November 7, 2019
Being 'bright blue' would make them the leaders of the confederacy
— Paul Dobbie (@pauldobbie2) November 7, 2019
There were no Republicans in the Confederacy. Learn some history for God's sake
Virginia has returned to the Confederacy, not left it.
— Mark Anderson (@ispyradio) November 7, 2019
Fact check: The Confederacy fought against Lincoln and his Republican policies. The KKK was made up of Democrats.
— Geri Fitzgerald (@GeriFitzgerald) November 7, 2019
Confederacy of Democrats. Nothing has changed except the racism is not so overt.

This is some revisionist history y’all!

More like they rejoined it… or did you fail history?
— Mouth of Matuszak (@pavelgregory) November 7, 2019
Uh, I believe it was the Democrat Party that was the party of the Confederacy. Be Better.
— Proud Deplorable (@HKirsh1) November 7, 2019
(whispering) Technically, the Confederacy WERE the blue.
— U Dekel (@udekel) November 7, 2019
The Confederacy consisted entirely of Democrats.

Governor Coonman and AG blackface beg to disagree, but keep f*cking that chicken.
