Forget the end of the world; Scientific American says climate change is affecting soccer now

A lot of America was watching today as the U.S. women’s national soccer team defeated England 2-1 to advance to the finals, so Scientific American probably thought this afternoon was the perfect time to drop this hot take complete with #FIFAWWC2019 hashtag. We’ve been told that climate change will literally make the earth uninhabitable unless we do something within the next 12 years, but more importantly, how will it affect soccer?

So Scientific American is saying that climate change is affecting the fan experience today? It’s too late to save soccer?

We haven’t seen a science magazine take this hot since the journal Nature confirmed that assigning gender by the genitals one is born with “has no foundation in science.”
