We’re so far beyond common sense in the argument over illegal immigration that it’s just a given that entering the country illegally doesn’t even count as a crime anymore — in fact, nonviolent crimes by illegal immigrants don’t really count as crime either, according to the Washington Post’s fact-check of the president’s speech.
CNN’s Jim Acosta seemed upset that President Trump, in describing, say, the shooting death of Corporal Ronil Singh by an illegal immigrant, was giving the impression that all illegal immigrants shoot cops or something.
In his Oval Office address… Trump is painting undocumented immigrants as criminals. This has not changed since he launched his run for the White House.

Jim I have bad news about what we do in fact call people who break the law https://t.co/VtSuUkkPfm
— Orange Muppet Energy (@sunnyright) January 9, 2019
Is there another word for one who breaks the law?
— Ryan Perrenoud (@RyanPerrenoud) January 9, 2019
And he gave concrete examples, something you rarely do.

And some are, Jim.

It’s a crime to enter the USA illegally!!!! Therefore anyone who does is BREAKING THE LAW Jim!!!!
— Jay Rye (@realjayrye) January 9, 2019
You know ILLEGAL immigrants are breaking the law by not being here legally, right?
— Элизабет (@elisabethlehem) January 9, 2019
You don't understand immigration laws do you? https://t.co/Jic9G4J5C9
— Jonathan Thiebaud (@Jtbaud249) January 9, 2019
Let me understand this. Illegal aliens break our laws to enter the USA, but they're not criminals. There's no way they can live here illegally without breaking additional laws. They're all criminals. https://t.co/CES6bMpZdn

I mean crossing the border illegally is perfectly legal, right?
Look at me. I'm Jim Acosta. Look at me. #lookatme. https://t.co/ltgFxMKd3C

Definition of criminal; an illegal act for which someone can be punished by the government; especially : a gross violation of law. Changing illegal immigrant to "undocumented" doesn't change the fact that the border was crossed illegally, thus breaking the law, thus criminal. pic.twitter.com/mVzX1MKXx6

It’s called trespassing Jim. It’s like if some burglar came uninvited to your (I’m sure) massive house, would you invite him in or call the police? Those who come in legally are more than welcome by President Trump.
— j_Getty23 (@j_getty_23) January 9, 2019
If you’re undocumented you are what Jim? Come on, this one should be easy, even for you. Illegal, you’re breaking the law. Do it the right way and we’d love to have you.
— Bob Fahy (@rfahy99) January 9, 2019
So when did we officially change the term “illegal immigrant” to “undocumented immigrant “? Asking for a friend…
— Michael Hackett (@hackettsdrugs) January 9, 2019
When you switch the language to “undocumented” it makes it easier to say stupid Orwellian crap. Imagine how stupid Acosta would feel saying that the president is trying to paint “illegal aliens” as criminal. So you have to change the language to soften the stupid.
— Orange Muppet Energy (@sunnyright) January 9, 2019
Brilliant, Jim. If they are here and undocumented, that makes them criminals.

If you’re going to give opinions, have @cnn give you show and leave that briefing room
— Roadsy (@Roadsy4) January 9, 2019
Seriously, CNN, just give this guy his own show so we can not watch that like the rest of your programming.
