Problematic: Clarence Thomas's wife is exercising her freedom of speech a little too much; But what about…

We’d swear we’d seen a very similar headline pop up maybe a day or two ago … actually we did, in The Washington Post. In any case, for those who missed WaPo’s (and CNN’s) piece, The Hill is here to sound the alarm that Justice Clarence Thomas’s wife has been expressing her views just a little too freely on social media.

His wife’s facing scrutiny, huh? From whom?

Because when Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (Michael Moore’s tree-topper this year) told the New York Times she couldn’t imagine what the country would be with candidate Donald Trump as president and called him a “faker,” CNN just wrote that off as her “well-known candor” on display — just the Notorious RGB being notorious.

Let’s see what the problem is:

Ginni Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, has generated controversy with her use of of social media to spread far-right rhetoric.

CNN and The Washington Post published separate reports in recent days highlighting Thomas’s use of social media. She has in recent months shared posts on Facebook alleging Democrats committed voter fraud, claiming survivors of a mass shooting at a Parkland, Fla., high school are a threat to the country, and that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) was the subject of “false accusations” because he “threatens the elite.”

We wouldn’t know, being either partisan extremists or Russian bots depending on whom you ask, but alleging that Democrats committed voter fraud in Florida is “far-right rhetoric”?

If we’re going to start parsing every social media repost from every public figure’s significant other, let’s be consistent at least. Or is this just a message to Thomas that he’d better get his uppity wife under control?

Like we said, she was just exhibiting that well-known candor of hers; nothing to worry about.

It’s a deal.

So, is anyone going to do a piece on the far-left musings of former Plain Dealer columnist Connie Schultz, who is now Mrs. Sherrod Brown?

“I am the woman Trump hates”? Should the wife of a senator and 2020 hopeful be saying partisan things like that on social media? C’mon, CNN, get your boys Brian Stelter and Oliver Darcy and K-File to check out her old columns and social media posts.
