Here’s another righteous thread by @AG_Conservative, who is, by the way, not a Trump apologist by any stretch — but the mainstream media make it awfully difficult not to side with the guy when they pull stuff like this.
As everyone knows, President Trump was a guest on CBS News’ “60 Minutes” Sunday night, where he was interviewed — and interrupted — by veteran journalist Lesley Stahl.
CBS News, of course, had to post some tweets the following day, and of course, they were framed to make Trump look as insensitive as possible. Sure, no one in the media batted an eye when Barack Obama declared, “I won,” but how could Trump be so callous as to say it didn’t matter how Dr. Christine Blasey Ford was treated, because in the end, “we won.”

CBS News on its inability to honestly paraphrase a question and answer: “It doesn’t matter, we won.”
— Razor (@hale_razor) October 15, 2018
You'll be shocked to learn that this is not an honest paraphrase of the exchange.
It's really not that hard to report honestly and let viewers judge for themselves, but the media just refuses to do it. https://t.co/sD0uyoZC5N

Here is the actual transcript. You will notice that:
1) The quote CBS cites was in response to Stahl trying to fram it as Trump accusing Ford of lying.
2) On his actual treatment of Ford, Trump claims he treated her with respect. pic.twitter.com/nzveycyTLL

Let’s zoom in a bit; so the exchange goes:
* * *
Lesley Stahl: Do you think you treated her with respect?
President Donald Trump: I think so, yeah. I did.
Lesley Stahl: But you seem to be saying that she lied.
President Donald Trump: W– you know what? I’m not gonna get into it because we won. It doesn’t matter. We won.
* * *
In other words, it sure looks like Trump was doing his best not to call Ford a liar and just move on.
You can disagree with 2 (I think his speech was disrespectful), but he was not dismissive of how Ford was treated as the quote suggests. He was dismissive of Stahl's framing, which I also find objectionable bc it's meant to portray believing Kavanaugh as wrong.
— (((AG))) (@AG_Conservative) October 15, 2018
And I've pointed out hwo dishonest this approach is repeatedly. No one goes up to Dems who said they believed Ford and framed it as "so you think Kavanaugh is lying and a sexual assaulter?"
This framing makes it seem like the only acceptable position was to believe Ford.
— (((AG))) (@AG_Conservative) October 15, 2018
When it comes right down to it, one of them had to be lying. But honestly, a lot of people have done a lot of tip-toeing around the question out of respect for the accuser. But Stahl really seemed to want to get Trump saying, “Yes, I believe Ford was lying” on national TV. And think about it: there’s no way that comes out sounding good for the president, no matter what. At least they got something to work with.
As for treatment of Ford, Trump's speech went to far and made it too political. The Republicans on the committee treated her with enormous respect, which was a huge contrast to how Democrats treated Kavanaugh.
— (((AG))) (@AG_Conservative) October 15, 2018
And this is exactly why CBS does this: Now a bunch of outlets will claim that Trump suggested it didn't matter if Ford was telling the truth, which is clearly not what he said. It was evident that he was saying he wouldn't reargue the case w Stahl.https://t.co/rTD2VtDLjV
— (((AG))) (@AG_Conservative) October 15, 2018
Problem with this is that CBS & these other outlets aren't supposed to be playing for one team. If they want to admit they are on a team (as they keep acting), then it's a different conversation and people on the right can approach their reporting as such: https://t.co/ehUFyjwivK

P.s. if people still have a problem with what Trump said based on the transcript, I have no issue with that. All the media needs to do is report it accurately instead of putting their own spin on it. Let people decide for themselves, but they refuse to do it.

Honestly, journalists, that’s all we’ve been asking for: the who, what, why, where, when, and how. That’s it.
It’s all done to launder the headlines onto Reddit and social media. This is the top story for anyone casually going to Reddit now. Two days ago top story was Robert E Lee.
This is how most people are exposed to the news and why they’re hysterical. pic.twitter.com/DoIBB0wVgY

Top story right now on Reddit. This is why media does these stories. For to launder the headlines on social media for the casual, top-line reader. We are indeed post-truth. pic.twitter.com/iAB1twuzv6

If she “proved” her Native American heritage. But that’s another story.
What was the actual statement. CBS put it in quotes so, that's a pretty big deception if he didn't actually say those words.
— Fusilli Spock (@awstar11) October 15, 2018
He said the words but in context it isn't "it doesn't matter how we treated her", but rather, "I'm not going to get into it with you because it doesn't matter what you think of it". pic.twitter.com/cRiUt2iZTa

I saw the interview, he tried to answer this q 6 times. She kept pressing since the answer wasn’t to her liking. Finally he gave up & said she’s not the prez & that he is. CBS published only the last line as headline. This is why the MSM is called the disgusting fake news.

So tired of hearing Trump was “disrespectful” in his speech. BS. Sounded very much like a defense’s closing arguments in a trial – though an attorney would’ve absolutely shredded her. “But he’s the President.” Yep, and you’re not.
— Aaron Cain (@RazenCain) October 15, 2018
I think that Trump has shown Ford more respect than she deserves.
— funnybone (@funnybone55) October 15, 2018
There’s nothing wrong with what he said. He didn’t need to defend it or apologize. Stahl is over-the-top.
— Against The Voices (@tpaul15) October 15, 2018
I saw a part of that interview and, even though I have not been a supporter of his, I knew she was out to get him from the start. She was smug and snide. I turned it off.

60 minutes has been rearranging dialogue for decades. That is what they do.
— Marc Swerdloff (@4goodnessake) October 15, 2018
Why it's hard: they have a narrative to perpetuate.
They built it up in 2015 and haven't let it go since; to be honest is to admit defeat.

Such a PROFOUND bias! 60 Minutes and Leslie Stahl should be ASHAMED of these stats from Trump’s interview https://t.co/1y7qhsYxMF
