Breaking news from Washington Post: Americans aren't feeling proud this Independence Day

We don’t think we’ve ever seen a poll get so much mileage in the media as the recent one by Gallup showing that the number of citizens who consider themselves “extremely proud” to be American is at a record low — never mind that it’s Democrats dragging the number down, as 74 percent of Republicans call themselves extremely proud to be Americans.

The Washington Post picked Independence Day to highlight that poll and others to determine that Americans aren’t feeling so proud this July 4th.
