Cecile Richards announced this week that she’s stepping down as president of Planned Parenthood sometime this year. To no one’s surprise, The New York Times ran an extensive piece on Richards and her future plans, mentioning in passing the “many conservatives” who are “celebrating the end of her reign.”
Hillary Clinton superfan Peter Daou wasn’t at all pleased with the tweet put out by the New York Times to promote the story, however.
Depending on whom you ask, Cecile Richards is a national "hero" or a "deeply evil woman" https://t.co/RdnzD3GPSX

Yeah, so what’s the problem?
This tweet should be deleted and an apology issued. https://t.co/aRSXspVXmO

Again, we’re not seeing the problem, but the New York Times apparently offended a lot of people.
Delete the tweet. What the hell is going on @nytimes https://t.co/cpthTGcqQc

I still subscribe to the @nytimes but their execrable political coverage sure makes it unpleasant. https://t.co/0BvYoHc4MQ

Staggering. Newspapers, media, entertainment learned nothing from 2016 unless their takeaway was misogyny will keep us in power

@nytimes is a cesspool of rightwing apologists. What in the world happened to them? They did everything in their power to ensure trump's election, and they continue to pile on to Clinton, Democrats and those who support them. Ridiculous. https://t.co/ASBi4Yb4NR

No worries Cecile is HERO and heroes always have enemies who try to bring them down to their level. https://t.co/oO74Wh6UHY

How dare the Times acknowledge the controversial nature of Richards’ gig at Planned Parenthood?
Slander by quote. NYT is off the reservation. https://t.co/TnBYZu2vl0

Anyone still subscribed to the @nytimes is actively condoning the paper's serial misogyny.
And don't tell me you only care about the crossword.

I remember that reading the Sunday NYT in bed was a sign that you were a liberal intellectual or aspired to think of yourself one. Not any more.
