Rep. Ted Lieu's deep thoughts on paying for care for sick children apply under Obamacare, too

Wasn’t the Affordable Care Act supposed to fix all of America’s problems with insuring the public and paying for health care? Apparently it didn’t, as even Democrats are calling for fixes to Obamacare rather than a straight-up repeal of the legislation.

The Republicans tried and failed to pass the so-called “skinny repeal” of Obamacare, and next up is the Graham-Cassidy health care bill, which would among other things eliminate the individual mandate requiring people to buy insurance.

So what has the opposition offered? Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders is finding backers for his Medical-for-All plan, while other Dems are posting platitudes about health care being a civil right.

On Thursday, Rep. Ted Lieu offered up his own argument against Graham-Cassidy, which goes something like: it’s sad when a sick child doesn’t have the money to see a doctor.

But … Obamacare fixed that, right?

At least Lieu found a more receptive crowd hanging out at the Emmy Awards with his constituents.

Because the “Republicans just want to starve children and old people” trope has worked for decades … why quit now?
