To fight terror, Czech Republic wants to arm citizens; Australia opts for national gun amnesty

There’s no question that the threat of terrorism is an international one, but different nations are taking different approaches to confronting that threat.

The Daily Caller, for example, reports that the lower house of the Czech parliament voted Wednesday to give citizens the right to use their guns to help secure the country. Though the bill passed by a large majority, it would have to pass the upper chamber and be signed by the president — and even then, critics say it would be overruled by stricter gun rules adopted by the European Commission.

“This constitutional bill is in reaction to the recent increase of security threats, especially the danger of violent acts such as isolated terrorist attacks … active attackers or other violent hybrid threats,” the bill read.

The vote in the Czech Republic comes just as Australia is gearing up for another round of its national gun amnesty program. Starting July 1, citizens will have three months to hand in guns without fear of prosecution. Why now? To help combat the growing threat of terrorism in the country by getting guns off the streets.

“Addicts.”

If the NRA would allow America do to this? That’s not how it works. That’s not how any of this works.
