France might extend state of emergency after 'known wolf' rams police van with explosives-filled car

France’s interior minister said he will present a bill to extend the country’s state of emergency until Nov. 1 following an attack on police in Paris Monday.

Fortunately, no one was hurt but the attacker, who rammed a car loaded with explosives and firearms into a police van in the Champs-Elysees shopping district. Investigators said the driver was a 31-year-old man from a Paris suburb who had been “flagged for extremism.” What kind of extremism remains a mystery.

ABC News managed to tread very carefully earlier in the day, tweeting only that a vehicle had “allegedly collided” with a police car.

Police later confirmed the car had a human driver, who had loaded the vehicle with guns and explosives.
