Following an ugly showdown between ICE and supporters of an illegal immigrant in Arizona Wednesday night that ended in a deportation, the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles scheduled a vigil for Thursday afternoon.
CHIRLA will be holding a vigil in front of the Metropolitan Detention Center at 5 p.m.

What comes after an afternoon vigil? A protest, obviously. Demonstrators hit the streets of Los Angeles and proceeded to block traffic.

LAPD just issued the order for dispersal/move onto sidewalk or protesters will be arrested.

They have since moved aside, clearing way for vehicles for the 101 southbound ramp on Los Angeles. Still blocking Aliso street.

Someone just shouted, "let's shut the freeway." The rest of the protesters ignored and continued chanting.

Why protest? Because fear has no place in Los Angeles. I.C.E conducted raids & detained more than 100 undocumented immigrants today #CHIRLA https://t.co/fdfaGIEWVA
