Barack Obama looking forward to one last vacation getaway aboard Air Force One after leaving office

At least once a month recently, President Obama has made sure to let someone know just how much he’s going to miss Air Force One after he leaves office.

There’s no doubt it’s one of the best perks of the job; thanks to the combination of Marine One and Air Force One, the president was able to attend an aide’s wedding in Jacksonville, Fla., Saturday afternoon and make it home before bedtime.

CBS News’ Mark Knoller notes that Obama will take his last trip on Air Force One as president Tuesday, when he delivers his farewell speech in Chicago.

Former presidents traditionally get to take one final ride after the inauguration ceremony, but where George W. Bush caught a lift back to his ranch in Midland, Texas, Barack Obama looks to be sneaking in one last vacation to a mystery destination.

The Independent Journal notes that during Oprah Winfrey’s interview with Michelle Obama in December — the one where the first lady revealed that “we are feeling what not having hope feels like” —  the president walked by and revealed that after the inauguration, he and Michelle were headed “someplace warm. See ya.”
