Speaking to an audience in Harlem, Hillary Clinton addressed the coming battle over the next Supreme Court justice, citing the Republicans’ “coded racial language.”
While it’s true that Senate Republicans led by Mitch McConnell have said they won’t consider any nominees put forward in this election year, we’re not sure exactly who’s going around claiming that President Obama doesn’t have the right to nominate a candidate. (And if anyone truly is saying that, they’re mistaken. Could Clinton just be — lying?)
In any case, Clinton might bark like a dog, but she can blow that dog whistle too, implying that by challenging the president’s made-up deadline for approving a replacement justice, bigoted Republicans are suggesting that Obama isn’t a real president and shouldn’t be treated like one.
