Report: US-trained rebels cross into Syria, immediately hand over weapons to al-Qaeda

The U.K. Telegraph reports Tuesday that rebel fighters with Division 30, the first to graduate from a U.S.-led training program in Turkey, crossed into Syria and immediately surrendered their weapons to al-Qaeda forces.

A member of al-Qaeda affiliate Jabhat al-Nusra reportedly tweeted that the operation was “a strong slap for America … the new group from Division 30 that entered yesterday hands over all of its weapons to Jabhat al-Nusra after being granted safe passage.”
