According to The Olympian, a group of about 100 demonstrators, including black bloc anarchists, marched through the streets and past city hall carrying a banner reading, “All Cops are Bastards.” At least four windows at city hall were smashed.
According to the police report, the Air Force officer, a pilot at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, was targeted by the protesters while caught in traffic.
“The protesters saw two confederate flags attached to the back of the victim’s motorcycle and surrounded him, rocking the bike in an attempt to knock it over,” police say. “They sprayed the victim in the face with mace, and struck him in the back with a baseball bat and a glass bottle filled with red paint.” The Olympian reports that a motorcyclist was taken away from the scene by ambulance.
Schogol reports that the Air Force officer suffered “severe eye irritation,” and a bruised shoulder and back.
