The vote to remove the Confederate flag from the South Carolina State House grounds easily passed the state Senate this week, but as expected, the debate over the flag in the House is a bit more contentious.
A recently introduced amendment to replace the Confederate flag at the State House with a solid white flag to be known as the “Unofficial Flag of the South Carolina Republican Party” suggests that debate could drag on a bit.

Latest GOP amendment would fly a white flag on grounds and call it the unofficial flag of the Republican Party. pic.twitter.com/xuuw9Ry12J

House tables an amendment by Rep. Corley (R) to replace Confederate flag with a white flag to represent how GOP lawmakers have given up

It’s fair to say that some proposed amendments to the legislation are a bit more serious than others. Maybe TV Land, former home of “The Dukes of Hazzard” reruns, could change its logo to a solid white flag?
South Carolina lawmakers now debating whether to replace the Confederate battle flag with a different Civil War flag, because politics.

To be fair, the South Carolina House majority has been mowing down each one of these amendments so far, also because politics.

JUST IN: Amendment that would have put Confederate flag in case at monument voted down 90-27

Big shift: About two dozen proposed amendments to the Confederate battle flag bill have been withdrawn.

There’s certainly no lack of public interest in what ends up on that flagpole, or what happens to the flag once it comes down.
2843 emails on the flag, countless phone calls, & 28 amendments on the desk…looks like it's gonna be a long day. #SCFlagDebate #chsnews
