Former 'Five' co-host Bob Beckel speaks out on firing: 'I guess I'll never understand their anger'

We learned earlier today that Fox News has officially dropped Bob Beckel, former co-host of “The Five,” from its roster of talent, and we were frightened by the idea that Anthony Weiner wanted to fill the vacant position, perhaps even enough to wear pants. It’s not that much of a stretch, considering the same Geraldo Rivera who traumatized Twitter with a near-nude selfie is one of Beckel’s rotating substitutes, along with Juan Williams.

According to Politico, Fox News issued a terse statement saying, “We tried to work with Bob for months, but we couldn’t hold The Five hostage to one man’s personal issues. He took tremendous advantage of our generosity, empathy and goodwill and we simply came to the end of the road with him.”

Beckel, who rarely tweeted, took to Twitter tonight to express his feelings on the split.

Pretty humble words from a man who could be so very obnoxious and misogynistic on air. This is the man, after all, who said of Twitchy’s founder, “If I was Juan Williams, I’d wake up next to Michelle Malkin with a shotgun.”
