Rick Perry delivered his last speech as governor of Texas Friday afternoon as he addressed the Republican National Committee’s winter meeting. Perry had a lot to say about his state’s economy, playing up job creation in particular under his leadership (nearly one-third of all jobs created).
It was border security, though, that gave Perry an opening to slam President Obama for not doing his job, or rather, delegating all of it to the states.
Perry: "Take the crisis at the border…a crisis of the president’s own making."

Perry on immigration: "The fact is Congress should have acted many years ago.
But the answer isn’t an executive order to bypass Congress."

Perry: "
My constitution says border security is a federal responsibility."— Zeke Miller (@ZekeJMiller) January 16, 2015
Perry: "Maybe the president just wanted to give me a head start on doing federal duties."

???“@TimAlberta: Perry, on Obama not securing the border: "Maybe the president just wanted to give me a head start on doing federal duties."
