Rep. John Conyers doesn't have enough signatures to be on the August primary ballot

Maybe. A second review of petitions shows long-time Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) falling far short of the 1,000 signatures needed for his name to appear on the August ballot.

WXYZ reports that out of 2,000 collected signatures, 764 were tossed out and another 644 are being challenged.

Conyers has served in Congress since 1965 and is a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus.

According to WXYZ, “The controversy began after the validity of signatures came in question. These signatures were gathered by Conyers’ team and were necessary for a candidate to appear on the ballot. Conyers needed 1,000, and he turned in well more than that.” However, the law requires those who collect signatures to be registered themselves, and one of Conyers’ team collecting signatures was a fugitive facing a number of charges.

Is this the end of the line for John Conyers?
