State Department considering two-day review of embassy tweets

The State Department is considering a two-working-day review period for social media postings, according to a report in the Washington Post. Each 140-character tweet would go through both a preliminary review and a final review before being posted. A State Department representative told the Post that the proposed changes are simply meant “to recognize the dynamic and decentralized nature of the 21st century information environment,” but we can’t help but look in the U.S. Embassy Cairo’s direction.
